Below is a video update on our work at Stewpot's Matt's House & Sim's House. We aren't done yet, but the progress is looking great!
So far, we have had over 100 Meadowbrook volunteers directly involved in the repairs and improvements at these two shelters for women and children in our community. Moreover, we had a huge percentage of our congregation sacrifice something in the month of November to contribute financially to this project. The tally of money raised is over $23,000 and climbing.
Jesus was born in a barn because his family couldn't find shelter for the night. Now his disciples are making sure that there is always room in the inn, and that the room gives dignity to those who need it.

Matt's House & Sim's House
During our "Christmas Can Still Change Our City" campaign, we are saving money so that we can give more towards rehabilitating two local women and children's shelters. Ruth McNeal shares her story and how these shelters have been a blessing in her life.

Christmas Can Still Change Our City
At Meadowbrook, we want to do Christmas differently this year. We are bombarded by the commercialism and consumerism of our culture's Christmas, but we want to firmly remain in the Christmas we find in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The God of This City is inviting us into His story of love, compassion, and redemption.
In November, we're embarking on an adventure of sacrifice and gift-giving. In an effort to help Stewpot's Matt's House and Sims' House shelters, we are asking folks to sacrifice something this month so that we can share our resources with those in need. What can you give up? What can you share? Do you believe that Christmas Can Still Change Our City?

Hope Prayer Partners

We’ve been overwhelmed at the excitement and generosity of so many who have thrown their hat in the ring and signed up to pray for a child for the next year. So far over 130 empty-nesters, college students, singles, and young marrieds have offered their lives in a powerful way to give and receive, to teach our children that they are never alone, that God and the people gathered in his name stand with them. I’m excited just to think about some of the relationships that will be formed from this self-giving. God does amazing things when we offer ourselves to others! And I can tell you as a parent, we cherish every single prayer we can get! We need the power and blessing that comes into our lives when God hears and draws close.
If you have not had a chance to sign up, please do so today as we get ready to establish partnerships. Next week will be our big kick off, and throughout the year we’ll be encouraging you and helping you in making contact and praying for the young life that you’ll be bringing before God.
You’ll be asked to do three basic things:
1. Mainly, pray for your child as you go before God. Pray for their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.
2. Make contact with your child at Meadowbrook services or by phone at regular intervals. Let them know you are praying for them and ask them and their parents if there are specific requests that you can pray about with them.
3. Use the monthly “helps” that the Hope Planning Team will provide- ideas and opportunities that will foster this prayer relationship between you, the child, and our Lord.
We still believe that God loves this city and its community. And so we’re excited to start right here, with our Meadowbrook community and our families, raising up our children so they can impact the greater community around us!

Light

The life and message of God’s love enfleshed in Jesus Christ provides the true light that gives life to the world.
Having been first loved and drawn by God through Jesus, we want to encourage followers of Jesus to share with confidence, joy, and boldness the immense and persistent love that God has for all people.
We hope to encourage this boldness through facilitating several opportunities for the entire church to share the love of God to others. “Torch Sunday” will be one such opportunity for members to express God’s love through offering prayer and a token of light for strangers they encounter that day. Our hope is that such experiences will open our eyes to various opportunities to share God’s love throughout our daily lives.
The Light Planning team: Jerry Neill, Janie Totty, Philip and Bridgett Street
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

God of this City
Meadowbrook has always been a church who strives to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The stories of our history in Jackson are full of scenes of service and love to our community. During the '09-'10 year, we want to renew that commitment to our community. We want to be a church who seeks out what God is doing in our city and joins Him in that mission. We desire to be a band of disciples who love people as much as God loves us.On September 13, we are kicking off a campaign called "God of this City" to help frame our renewed commitment to joining in the mission of God. This focus will serve to increase our courage and faith, strengthen our prayer lives, restore relationships, embrace our creativity, and serve others. We have five teams comprised of Meadowbrook folks who are dreaming up ways we can live out this vision. They will help us join with God in His light, hope, peace, joy, and strength.
Please stay for lunch on the 13th to hear more about our hopes for the upcoming year, and learn ways you can become involved in bringing about God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
We aren't changing the way we do church or the way we do ministry, we just want to do those things more passionately and recognize that we are merely participating in what God is already doing. We believe that greater things are yet to come, because the Great I Am is not just the God of the heavens, but He is also the God of this City.
